Savage Grace / Master Of Disguise

Savage Grace / Master Of Disguise (1985).

A spicy Speed Metal extract from the Glorious Eighties, back to basics, not bothering with mere production details. The battery sounds like a cardboard box, but no regrets here, as the lack of compromise would probably overwhelm any ears not trained enough.

As a true Los Angeles band, Savage Grace naturally uses the legendary LAPD Guzzi California (named “Eldorado” in the US), although the album was released in 1985, long after its reign. The Kawasaki KZ900, the one from CHiPs, superseded it a long time ago. Obviously, the chromed Calif looks better with steel handcuffs, and Officer Knutson (Producer Rick Knutson) surely wouldn’t trade its mount for all the stars of the world. Master Of Disguise is the first entry in Black Dragon Records’ catalog, a bygone French label.
